  2. hey, it worked. I did the user name/url without putting in a url...yeah. So here is the scoop. I am in week five of my training. I did experience ileotibial band issues early last week so I rested, medicated and heated the leg. I ran Friday and then Applefest Half Marathon Saturday...felt good. Keep the faith guys...January will be here before we know it.

  3. Training going well. Thursday swam for thirty minutes followed by a ten mile run. Today was LSD day. I ran fifteen today. I felt good so the training is paying off. Week six about to start and time to step it up. Where are my fellow Irish Runners.

  5. Missed running this Saturday. Spent the weekend at VMI with Stephen and Amanda.

So will have to see how that affects the training.

The weekend was worth it, Great bunch of young men, VMI won their football game, and the tailgating was good food. I only gained one pound which is amazing considering.

    Now back to discipline

  6. Went out for a 4 mile run and did about an 8 min mile, I was feeling all the tailgate food and pizza I ate over the weekend in my side about mile 2. The weather is unusually warm here in Virginia but I'm not complaining. Fall colors are in full bloom and going on a trail run can make you forget about the worries life for a while and enjoy the alone time. Hope all is well with everyone.

  7. OK, back at it. Thanks Kassie for the correct blog address. Week 8 went well, looking forward to a three mile run for week 9 LSD. Everything seems to be comeing as predicted. Hope everyone else is doing as well if not better.

Tonight, I have a ticket for the Jags/Ravens Monday Night football. The forecast is not good for the Jags but have to support the homeboys

  8. Ran 2 miles on Saturday...have to figure out how to get serious about this. I have 6 miles I have to do on Thanksgiving. The first mile on Saturday was difficult but mile two wasn't as bad...just need to get some discipline. I think my air will come back then.

  9. took advantage of the warmer weather yesterday and did 8.5 miles. I was going to do longer but some how my trail turned into part of a cow pasture and I wasn't trying to get trampled down so I just turned around. To encourage Mary, I have trouble with my first 2 to 3 miles and after that all my aches tend to go away and it feels good. Grant it I'm really sore today but feeling accomplished as well. Hope everyone's running is going well and running through out the holidays is def gonna be a challenge

  10. The end of week 10. I got in the scheduled 9.5 miles this morning. I mixed the run/walk ration starting with 30/30 and ending with 90/30. My time was 2 hours fifty minutes. Nothing to brag about but considering that Monday I was in the hospital I will take togay as a success. My knees and ankles felt pretty good. Thank God forf the hot tub. Looking forward to Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, I think it will be fun.

  11. Medical intervention will put a delay in training. After consultation with surgeons today I have accepted their recommendations to have my Gall Bladder removed. The affect on training is I will not run the Turkey Trot but can walk a brisk pace. Intense training will be put off until Dec 1st. Since I have run a 17 minute 9.5 mile run/walk I believe the available time to train will at least bring me in at that level hopefully a little faster. The thoughts of having another episode of pancreatitis (sp)if I posponed surgery until February would drive me crazy. I am not happy with having to make this deceision but I belive it is the less of two evils.

  12. Training is going well...ran a half marathon yesterday and turned in a time which I haven't seen in awhile. I think I can run it faster, just need to train harder...it is possible. Eight more weeks until Disney so I have time...
by the way time was 1:40: and seconds....

  13. So I finally gave in on my shoes and got a new pair on black Friday. got them for a great deal along with some recommendation based on stance and all. first run with them went great and loved them. I didn't run on Tuesday because the school has a blood drive and cant really run after giving blood. I guess you could if you wanted to take a nap mid step. So I go today and its painful. I thought I was doing well, but shins started to become painful and made me quit early. Ill go again on sat, but hopefully these shoes get broken in soon. Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving and looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Today is Dec 1, my release date for reentering the training program. Saturday was to be a 12.5 mile run. Well it won't be all of that, I will get out and see what this old body is capable of doing without pushing too hard for too long.

  15. I did the 12.5 mile today as schedule and it went well. the first four miles were rough, but then after that my body becomes a lil numb to the pain and its just mental from there on out. I was happy with my time and knowing that the half marathon is only a lil over half a mile longer makes this seem more possible every day. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and see yal in a few weeks

  16. A month out kids...now it's crunch time. I ran what was suppose to be twenty this past Saturday. I sat here at work and went on "Map My Run" to measure the actual distance. It took me four hours to run what I thought was twenty...not too bad considering it is suppose to be long slow distance (a.k.a. L.S.D.). The actual distance is 22 miles. I feel a little better because of distance covered, not because of time. I have to do this one more time (in two weeks) then I start to taper down. I feel good today so that is testiment to my training as opposed to being sore for three days. Everyone keep up their training and accomplish your goals...we will have fun.
